Incompatible Formats

Digital Video cameras are essential in video filming.   However, it’s incredible how many different formats exist  with MP3, MP4, AVI, WMV, JPG’s and so on.  Using Digital Camera SD cards is now the norm, and we enjoy HDMI quality as never before – but oh the nightmare when one format clashes with another.  The problem arises during video editing stages on my computer.  Somehow a conversion of formats lowers the quality of the image.  What can be seen on my computer may not be recognised through my Video Player.

We may have moved on in the Digital Age, but there’s still a long way to go in unifying all formats together.   Is this a common phenomena?
